Our History
S.Demanuele is a family business specialising in watch and clock repair and manufacturing since 1898.
The business was founded by Salvatore Demanuele, who fixed a variety of precision tools, machinery and instruments, including clocks, gramophones, cameras, and typewriters. He constructed several tower clocks during his career, most of which were commissioned by churches. Even now, several of these clocks are still in use.
His first clock, an 8-day striking tower clock, was commissioned by the British services and installed in St. Andrew's barracks in 1923. It was later moved to Tal-Mirakli chapel in Lija, where it remains to this day. His second commission was for the Mellieha church in 1927 and the third, intended as a copy of the Lourdes Sanctuary, was inaugurated on the 30th July 1931 at Zabbar Parish. On the 6th October of the same year bishop Mauro Caruana O.S.B. declared 100 days indulgence to people who said a Hail Mary when the clock chimed the Ave Maria.
Salvatore was awarded 3 medals for clock making.
Recognized today as one of the oldest operational shops in Valletta, the landmark workshop remains situated on St. John Street, the exact same street where Salvatore first started out over a century ago, and continues to operate under the name S. Demanuele in his honor. Passed down faithfully through the family line, the historic shop is now run by Salvatore's great-great-grandson, representing the fourth generation of Demanuele watchmakers steering this proud horological legacy into the modern era.

Nowadays in our workshop we have the ability to cater for repairs for almost any brand including large brands such as Rolex, Omega, Panerai, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Tissot, Longines, IWC, Hermle, and many others.
Besides our passion for repairing time pieces, we have been in business of stocking parts for this industry for generations. We hold a large quantity of parts for a wide variety of watch and clock brands, for antique, vintage and modern timepieces. We also provide the local horological society with the parts needed to repair your timepiece.
We sell a wide range of tools, components, cases, and watch winders for the repair, care, and storage of your watches. We also specialise in the retail of cuckoo clocks, traditional and contemporary wall clocks, alarm clocks, weather instruments, and watch winders.
Our website makes shopping for parts easy and provides both the local and foreign market with our professional repairs and a wide variety of tools and parts related to the horological world. We hold a large quantity of parts for a wide variety of watch and clock brands’ some of which are obsolete from the manufacturers themselves, for antique, vintage and modern timepieces.
